9 Nov 2024 - The 8th Annual Meeting of the Global Alliance of Medical Excellence (GAME) was held in Melbourne on the 7th and 8th November 2024. The meeting was kick-started with an indigenous smoking ceremony to welcome all delegates to Australia. Professor Christina Mitchell AO, Executive Dean of Monash Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University, hosted the opening ceremony and greeted participants from all over the world.
On the first day, delegates from partner universities gathered to actively engage in various discussion topics on medical research, ranging from AI in Medicine, neurodegeneration, gastroenterology to Reflections on Shaping the Future in Medical Education and AI in Medical Education Hype and Reality. It was followed by a tour of Monash University’s flagship facilities – the Centre of Anatomy and the ARMI FishCore facility of the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute, where strategies for medical education in the 21st century and cutting-edge zebrafish facility for biomedical research were showcased.
GAME delegates engaged in a strategy discussion session on the second day of the meeting. They exchanged invaluable insights and opinions regarding strategic priorities and future directions for GAME, medical education initiatives, ranking, expansion of GAME membership, etc. Education-focused delegates joined a tour at the Victorian Heart Hospital to visit the teaching spaces and simulation labs, while research-focused delegates gained a deeper understanding of the Monash technology platforms and met with the researchers in their areas of expertise. The event concluded successfully and achieved significant progress in medical research and education, unveiling new opportunities for future collaboration and growth.
