The GAME Annual Meeting 2026 will take place on 24–25 August, hosted by the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University in Lund, Sweden

.

This year’s meeting is centred on the theme “Innovation in Academic Medicine”, with a shared ambition to explore how different innovation systems support the journey from scientific and educational ideas to meaningful societal impact.

Academic highlights

The programme brings together leaders, educators, researchers and students from across the GAME network to exchange perspectives and best practices. Highlights include:

  • Presentations on innovation system best practices from GAME member universities across Europe, Asia and Australia, creating a comparative platform for learning and reflection.

  • A keynote on clinical research innovation at Lund University, sharing personal experiences of translating research into impact.

  • Insight into turning innovation insights into impact, with contributions from Lund University Innovation and the regional innovation ecosystem, including Medicon Village Innovation.

  • Interactive discussions on the requirements for successful academic innovation, supported by joint brainstorming and digital engagement tools.

Beyond the meeting rooms

In addition to the academic programme, the meeting offers opportunities to experience Lund and strengthen the GAME community:

  • A welcome reception overlooking the city, creating space for informal networking and dialogue across institutions.

  • A formal dinner at Hypoteket, one of Lund’s historic buildings, providing a setting for continued conversations in a relaxed atmosphere.

  • An excursion to MAX IV, including a guided tour of the world‑leading synchrotron radiation facility, highlighting Lund’s cutting‑edge research infrastructure and innovation ecosystem.

We look forward to the two stimulating days of discussion, collaboration and shared learning. Together, we hope to identify new ways in which the GAME network can continue to promote innovation in academic medicine – for the benefit of patients, society and future generations.

Programme details will be announced in due course.
